Meet Dr. Randall Wade Murphy

The New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ was conceived in the mind and heart of Dr. Randall Wade Murphy many years ago. As a very young adult, he felt that God had a calling on his life to serve as a leader of his people in some major capacity. In preparation of his calling, he left his lifelong hometown of Houston, Texas, family and church for 8 years and moved to the progressive city of Atlanta, Georgia to pursue his Masters of Divinity and Doctorate of Counseling.

Upon completion of his studies in Atlanta, he returned to Houston to serve as the Co-Chairman of the Minister’s Board at his home church, Greater Williams Memorial Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Bishop R. E. Woodard Sr.

In due time, because of his faithful service Bishop Woodard elevated him to the Office of Dean of the Charles Harrison Mason System of Bible Colleges, where he successfully expanded and developed the curriculum of the school.

Always looking for a greater challenge, Pastor Murphy organized and opened the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ on September 16, 1996. It was launched on a Monday night with a week long revival. The pastor’s mother, Mother E. Elizabeth Murphy, was his first and proudest member, followed by Brother Rory Murphy, Sister Paula Murphy and Brother Michael Fields.

The Lord added to the church and Pastor Murphy has never looked back.

Throughout the years, he has remained steadfast and has endured without wavering and complaining through the good, the not so good and the in between.

Under his leadership, he organized several ministries that have positively impacted the lives of the homeless, downtrodden, forgotten and those that just want to be saved.

Most recently, Pastor Murphy has established the New Jerusalem COGIC Live streaming services of our Sunday Morning Worship, Monday Night Prayer, Wednesday Night Sunday School Table Talk, NextGen Ministries and NowGen Ministries.

He has not finished yet. The vision lives on. This year his plans include:

Pastor Murphy looks to God for guidance and direction for the future.
